Ross FreemanAbout Ross
Ross Freeman has been involved in the dairy / food industry for over 35 years.
Ross started as a production supervisor at Pete-Con, manufacturing manager at Sandhurst Dairies, general manager of Burra Foods, then co owner of Riverina Cheese RCG.
For over 15 years Ross was a major Shareholder and CEO of The Riverina Cheese Group P/L (RCG). Ross began the RCG in Sept 1994 employing 5 staff and growing the business to be one of the largest continental specialty cheese factories in Australia.
Ross’s philosophy of continuous improvement and extensive experiences in business have been utilised at the National Food Institute, allowing him to influence 35 of his staff to complete Certificates 2 and 3 in food processing.
Ross more recently worked as a consultant and trainer to the Food Industry until recently Ross took over the role of CEO and Director of National Food Institute and NFI Consulting P/L.

David HaberfieldAbout David
David Haberfield has over 30 years of experience in the food industry working in all areas of production, quality control, logistics, plant design and layout and continuous improvement projects.
As a qualified food safety and business auditor, David also has experience in complete plant due diligence audits. David also international court experience as an expert witness. He has been involved in the design and operation of factories, the implementation and commissioning of production systems and has extensive experience in problem solving and implementing improvements. David has also worked on a number of cleaner production and sustainability projects. He has completed over 30 HACCP projects from development through to implementation and training in Australia, Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Lou Licastro has been involved in the food industry since the early nineties, beginning as the owner of a pasta manufacturing company producing a wide range of products supplied nationally to distributors, cafes, restaurants, hospitals and schools.
Lou has proven ability and strength in many areas including improving efficiencies through better process flows, business development, reducing waste and improving product quality. Lou joined National Food Institute in 2008 as a trainer and assessor and has been actively involved in facilitating better training outcomes for a variety of food businesses. David Pinnock has been involved in complex manufacturing environments for the past 18 years, working his way up from the shop floor to plant manager. He has experience in the automotive, chemical, fiberglass, paint and food industries, dealing with companies such as GM, Holden, Hella, Regency, Stegbar, Jeldwen, Heinz, Aristocrat and a range of overseas clients. This extensive experience has given him the ability to promote cultural change in many different manufacturing environments.

Barbara ReadAbout Barbara
Barbara has spent over twenty years working in both operational and strategic roles in the VET training industry. She is a Program Manager at National Food Institute. She has held various positions in management, compliance, quality, business development and strategic management and as a trainer and assessor specialising in management and transport, warehousing and logistics. More recently she has applied her vast skills to School based apprenticeships and traineeships.

Geoff CohenAbout Geoff
Geoff has over 38 years’ experience in food industry and related industries having positions as food technologist, as an owner operator of 2 subway stores small business owner to consultant and trainer.
Geoff started working life at Bonlac as a lab assistant, and worked there for 5 years and during this time he attended Gilbert Chandler Institute of dairy technology.
After completing his degree in Food technology Geoff worked for a number of food companies in various roles form process development to NPD to sales and marketing These businesses include SPC, Unilever, Bush Boake Allen, Hoechst In 2003 Geoff set up his own business in fast food industry owning and operating 2 subway stores.
He then sold these stores and set up and run a business for 10 years importing food ingredients into the confectionery, health food and food and pharmaceutical industries
Geoff has only been with the NFI team for over a year. He brings a wealth of knowledge of food industry and business management, training experience and knowledge to the NFI team.

Sue CoutinhoAbout Sue
Sue has over 18 years of food processing industry experience. Working in various roles from machine operator, production supervisor to skills and capability coordinator. She has extensive knowledge on all aspects of process systems, warehouse systems and internal training compliance.

Chloe FosterAbout Chloe
Chloe has worked in the horticulture for over 10 years now, spending 7 in a large wholesale nursery doing propagation. And a few years at retail nurseries, Kuranga Native Nursery in Mount Evelyn and Branch Out Nursery in North Ringwood. She also worked in the La Trobe University Herbarium managing and databases the collection. For some time she fed the catapillars & Lord Howe Island Stick Insects at Melbourne Zoo, and maintain the landscapes. The Zoo nursery is dedicated to growing and supplying food for the invertebrate collection at Melbourne Zoo. Chloe also worked as a nursery technician at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Cranbourne Gardens.
She is the National Food Institute Trainer and Assessor of the Certificate II in Horticulture.
With whatever spare time is left she spends with the RBGV Cranbourne Friends, going on plant collecting expeditions, designing gardens and is a panellist on the 3CR Community Radio Gardening Show on a Sunday morning.

Scott Livingston has been around Transport Logistics for last 19 Years. Scott join the Australian Army in 2000 as a Transport Driver, Scott spend just over 10 years in the Army. Scott then went driving interstate for afew years before having a change in Careers an work at a Winery for 8 months before going back into the trucks. But working for a mining company driving AB Tripples from Broken Hill to the mine near Pooncarie. Scott COMPLET-ED his cert III Driving Operation in April 2014.

Steve NeirinckxAbout Steve
Steven Neirinckx has many years working in a variety of industries with varying roles from forklift operator to factory manager. He has delivered inhouse training to up-skill his staff to be more effective factory operators. He is passionate about safety in the workplace.
As a trainer, he has worked with a wide range of adults mainly searching to improve their opportunities to get better jobs and promotions. During the sessions Steve will often use humour to relax the students and loves to tell of experiences in the industry.

Jacinta KropmanAbout Jacinta
Jacinta has a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a Diploma in Community Services. She has 17 years’ experience working with people with disability, in training and development and management. She has worked with a wide range of adults and students, as a trainer in the classroom, and support at the workplace.
She has had four years’ experience working and training in the warehousing industry, working as a trainer and a mentor to students and adults completing Certificate II and III in Food Processing and Certificate II in Warehousing, and Certificate IV in OHS and Certificate IV in Frontline Management. She has primarily trained and mentored VCAL students undertaking a school based traineeship in food processing or warehousing.

Ian WilsonAbout Ian
Ian has been involved in the wine industry since 2000, initially recruited as Packaging Manager to set up the Ozpak Bottling Plant in Nagambie – a greenfields site with a 6000 bottle per hour capacity. He then moved on to the role of Customer Service Manager delivering packaging services to small icon brands, such as Bowen Estate Wines, in addition to large commercial operators, such as Fosters Wine Group. He subsequently transferred to the parent company, McPherson Wines, as Customer Service Manager delivering “Buyers Own Brand” products to large commercial companies such as New Holland Wine Company (Aldi EU) and Coles Liquor Group.
Ian set up his company WineWerks in 2008, providing specialist packaging services and logistics to the wine industry and, in particular, Coles Liquor and Supermarket Groups.
Ian joined National Food Institute in December 2010 as a Trainer and Assessor and is continuing to train at various food processing plants in the Goulburn Valley and Bendigo areas.
Ian joined Wodonga TAFE in June 2016 as a Casual Trainer and Assessor and is training locally as required.
Ian enjoys golf, gardening, music and playing around with all things mechanical.
