Simon has a history in agriculture, livestock & meat processing and also has skills and knowledge in process engineering in the food & beverage industry having been employed with Wilfab engineering, APV, Spirax Sarco and working on projects for Nestle national sites, CUB, Tatura Milk and National Foods.
Over the last 14 years, Simon worked with Heinz at the Girgarre Tomato processing plant across all areas of the business and gained skills and knowledge which lead to his shift supervisor role. Simon was responsible for all business conducted on the site and for ensuring that there was compliance with all company policies and procedures. Simon provided daily direction & mentoring of teams at shift meetings including reporting shift budget results, addressing any occupational health and safety issues and troubleshooting any problems with production lines operating efficiently.
Simon has joined the National Food Institute team working with the SPCA programme. Simon understands that the greatest asset to any business is its people. He believes that to gain the edge in a tough economic environment, the key is training to formalise and extend the skills and knowledge gained through industry experience.
